FLYING AS A CABIN CREW – INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES

The Profile of an International Cabin Crew is almost the same as a domestic Crew, however it differs in certain aspects such as long flying hours, jet lag and elaborate service procedures.

Since International Flying means inter – country or even inter – continent, hence they require long Flying hours. For example – Delhi to London, Mumbai to New York. Sometimes there are two sets of  Crew in the flight. Hence after the flight , International Cabin Crew generally feel JET LAG. Jet lag, medically referred to as desynchronosis, is a physiological condition resulting from rapid long-distance  Trans Meridian (east–west or west–east) travel on a (typically Jet) Aircraft. North-south flights that do not cross time zones do not cause jet lag. Airlines have regulations too to manage the same. However, this situation is quite serious. The general problems that members of Air Crew face is that of TRAVEL FATIGUE. Travel fatigue is general fatigue, caused by a frequent changes in routine, travelling in a space where there is less possibility of movements , low oxygen , and dehydration caused by dry air. Travel fatigue can occur without crossing time zones unlike jet lag, and disappears soon when accompanied by a night of high-quality sleep.

The Service procedures are elaborate as they are long haul flights. Hence, there are varied services including hard drinks. Remember, alcoholic drink service is banned on Indian domestic flights. Generally, there is vegetarian serving on request unlike Indian domestic flights.

Also, there are no boundations on the service of non – vegetarian food limiting only to chicken.

Also, they also need to spray disinfectants once the doors are closed for departure.

Apart from this, once a candidate joins an international airline, s/he need to take yellow fever meningitis typhoid hepatitis injection before joining. This may differ to country to country. They need to carry immigration forms with them. Also there are certain regulations such as no crew can carry more than 100 ml liquid in their bag.

With this, definitely international Cabin Crew members have the privilege to travel the world and what more, they get paid for it too!

Hence there is a lot that includes flying, be it domestic or internationals. Every experience is worth sharing!
